COUNTRY COUSINS' SUMMER SYLLABUS
Lesson 1

General discussion about social life of a modern teenager
-
Click on the personality quiz and ask students to find it on the Silk Browser on Kindles or their phones. Students do the test. Encourage them to ask if there is new vocabulary.

Tell students they will take part in "speed dating" to find a friend. Click on the "How to link" and ask students to make a note of 3 pieces of advice that they will follow during the speed dating event.

Students prepare questions to find a perfect friend. Encourage higher level students to write more complex questions e.g. what would you do if....

Lesson 2
-
Ask students to help you rearrange the classroom for the speed dating event.

You may collaborate with another teacher so that half of the students swap classrooms to meet people they haven't talked to yet.

Speed dating - encourage students to make notes to so they can find a perfect friend.

Students write letters to their perfect friend and hand them in to the teacher. The teacher sends a student (courier) to deliver the letters.

Lesson 3
-
Click on the "friend in need" link and show the video. ​

Students prepare a scene about a relationship problem (imaginary) based on their experience in Country Cousins. They act out the scene or prepare a video.

Optional - click on the love poem link. Read the poem. Students read the poem in pairs and write their own poems.

Make sure there is a lot of error correction during workshops - encourage students to make notes. Remember that the above are guidelines only. If you see that students are engaged in one activity and need more time, do not rush to the next task. You may omit some activities.
